Caroline Jane Buckley Bsc (Hons) is an award winning botanical artist based in the beautiful West Pennine Moors, Lancashire.
After graduating from the Society of Botanical Artists' Diploma Course with a Distinction and the Award for Excellence, Caroline was fortunate to gain a position as the first Artist-In-Residence for RHS publication The Plant Review magazine for 2024. She uses coloured pencils as her favoured medium as she appreciates the depth of colour that can be achieved while incorporating the accurate details necessary for botanical illustration. Caroline received the Award for Exhibiting Excellence in Colour in the SBA Plantae 2024 exhibition for her illustration of the Tibetan Cherry, The Coloured Pencil Shop Award for her illustration of Malus vernalis in the SBA Plantae 2025 exhibition and the People’s Choice award in the 2026 Scottish SBA exhibition in Edinburgh. In 2025 she became a Fellow of the SBA and her illustration of Sea Buckthorn was selected for the Botanical Art Wordwide exhibition in Birmingham as well as being exhibited in more than 30 countries. Caroline has more than 30 years experience of teaching and now runs workshops and residential courses in coloured pencil botanical art.
